Meredith Greeman Wear Aqua Blue

I have to say, “Wow!”  I am surprised and honored to be chosen as a spotlight bootcamper.

I don’t really know where to start.  I don’t have an earth shattering story.  If you have seen me working out, I am one of those that keeps ‘pressing on’.  It’s been my mantra since I high school.  My fitness journey the last 20 years has gone up and down.  Kevin has always supported me in those ups and downs, encouraging me with every crazy whim I had from marathons to tough mudders.

I started coming to classes about 4 1/2 years ago when I had realized for the first time in my life that I had finally lived in the same spot for over 5 years!  We had always moved every 4 or 5 years growing up, and I was finally stationary!  I also realized that I needed to get out more, otherwise I was going to be the crazy cat lady without friends when I got old.  Nate had just turned 4; he had been having respiratory issues for a few years which we were finally figuring out.  I wanted to set a good example for him.    I figured how can I ask my child to eat healthy and be active if I don’t set a good example?  I had a total cholesterol of 254…a few extra pounds on me…and I was lucky if I could run three miles.  A flyer had come from BUMC advertising Channel’s bootcamp-which I immediately dismissed!  I instantly thought of my husband Kevin teaching a class and thought, “No way!”.  A few momma’s on the preschool playground told me it was quite the opposite of what I thought.  I still wasn’t convinced until I saw Channel’s car in the church parking lot on a Sunday. 😊  The rest is history.  My family and I have benefited from the bootcamp family in more ways than one.  I’m stronger, my cholesterol is now 149 (thanks to clean eating), and  I’m constantly pushed beyond my limits, but smiling at the same time.  You see, bootcamp has it's own spirit that you can’t find elsewhere.

Kevin and I learned before we got married that life doesn't often give you second chances.  You have to make the most of everyday in everything you do.  We got reminded of that again last year, after Nate and I were in a car accident.  Recovering from a nasty patellar dislocation was just as mentally frustrating as physical, but easy to do with my bootcamp family.  The outpouring of love, concern, and help left me speechless.  I am so thankful that I am part of this family.  During a pre-wod prayer a few years ago at the new location Channel said, “Thank you for allowing this place to be some people’s church.”  The friends and fellowship that are found here make footprints on your heart.  I am blessed to part of such an amazing group of people.

This year I seem to be more determined to “press on” (Phil. 3:14).  I’m nudging my friends and family out of their comfort zones as well.  We are embarking on new adventures, making memories that will last a lifetime.  As I mentioned, we don't always get second chances, or do overs.  Make today count-smile, laugh, and have fun as you do.  Again, I’m honored to be nominated-thank you!
